Nozomu Itoshiki is a teacher who represents the height of despair and sees everything in the world as negative, often attempting elaborate suicides that are routinely interrupted by his students. The show is a series of social satires where he and his diverse class discuss and deconstruct mundane aspects of Japanese culture and logic from his specialized, pessimistic perspective.
