>AlpineBSD is an operating system based on the NetBSD kernel with a userspace inspired by Alpine Linux and the objective of making it possible to use as little AI-generated software as possible. There is no LLM output included in the base system or main package repository (AlpineBSD AI policy).
Thoughts? This immediately aroused rage in HN commentors. Looks like a nice project and they seem to allow AI auditing so you get the benefits from both worlds.
>>2390 (OP) I think 100% AI-free software/OS in the future is pure ignorance to how much AI has been improving. In fact the pure human-only coded software/OSs will soon become genuine security risks as AI becomes better at finding exploits so at least using AI auditing ensures this is unlikely. The best thing about AI is that if you want something from the future like for example making your Waifu real in a virtual environment, you don't have to wait for some shit ass dev to make a broken implementation of it a decade from now, you can make that broken implementation yourself TODAY, assuming you have the physical hardware for it of course.
AI companies have definitely overhyped lots of things about AI and caused people to have these fantasies that the tech is improving faster than it actually is and that LE SKYNET TERMINATORS are 2 weeks away! If this doesn't stop we're headed for one of the worst economic bubbles in modern times and it will only lead to further resentment of anything AI. In the end AI is just a tool but people want to humanize it and assign it a "superhero" or "villain" label like the dim witted bottom feeders that they are.
