Ok so I removed some font imports and some JS that didn't need to be fetched. Tomorrow I'll work on optimizing more things.
Did some image optimization. The required data to load the website should get much lower as the older thumbnails get replaced.

Right now I'm hosting on a Hetzner VPS in Finland for about 10 dollars a month.
My idea was to get the site up and running somewhere that's relatively cheap and easy to use and if the site gains any traction I'd try something more complex. I can't say the site is gaining any traction, but I'm going to look into alternatives anyway. When the website launched the performance was even worse, it was getting like 50/100 on lighthouse

I've used AI a lot, yes, to be honest I couldn't have done something on this scale alone while having a full time job

I got a 4vcpu with 8gb ram one, but to be honest I'm not sure if the hardware is that great. I'm doing some architecture refactoring, hopefully it will be done by the next weekend. After it's done I'll post about it here
