@void I've working on thumbnail research, so far only AOM 8b 420 AVIF vs 420 webp tested
I've discovered CDEF in AVIF will supress artifacting at low filesizes not just blur it.
AVIF contains many implementations which complicates which variant should be adopted.
But 2027 could definitely be the year of AVIF pending security/performance concerns.
Gianni Rosato's included CPU specs in his decode test, it's an MacBook Pro M5
Not very useful for 10 year old CPUs but now I know decoding testing procedure.
However it seems to require linux so I'll try to find the powershell analogue instead.
