My $5 shitbud IEMs are superior to your $5000 audiopedo setup.

This bash script uses the lossless animated Webp to create a loop to compare Webp and JXL to each other and a source PNG.
The Webp/JXL filenames are overlaid to display hidden info (ie filesize/CVVDP score/encoding parameters).
sRGB signaling is enforced for all images and finally temporary PNG intermediate files are deleted.Dependencies: FFmpeg, libwebp, and libjxl#!/usr/bin/env bash for f in in.png; do ffmpeg -hide_banner -loglevel error -color_primaries bt709 -color_trc iec61966-2-1 -i "$f" \ -vf "format=rgb24,drawtext=text='$(basename "$f")':fontcolor=white:fontsize=12:box=1:boxcolor=black@0.6:boxborderw=8:x=20:y=20" \ -pix_fmt rgb24 png.png done for f in *.webp; do dwebp -quiet "$f" -o decwebp.png ffmpeg -hide_banner -loglevel error -color_primaries bt709 -color_trc iec61966-2-1 -i decwebp.png \ -vf "drawtext=text='$(basename "$f")':fontcolor=white:fontsize=12:box=1:boxcolor=black@0.6:boxborderw=8:x=(w-text_w)/2:y=20" \ -pix_fmt rgb24 webp.png done for f in *.jxl; do djxl "$f" decjxl.png --quiet ffmpeg -hide_banner -loglevel error -color_primaries bt709 -color_trc iec61966-2-1 -i decjxl.png \ -vf "format=rgb24,drawtext=text='$(basename "$f")':fontcolor=white:fontsize=12:box=1:boxcolor=black@0.6:boxborderw=8:x=w-text_w-20:y=20" \ -pix_fmt rgb24 jxl.png done img2webp -lossless -m 6 -loop 0 -d 1000 png.png webp.png jxl.png -o Webp-vs-JXL_flicker.webp rm -f png.png decwebp.png webp.png decjxl.png jxl.png

This is not meant to treat JXL as entirely inferior to Webp, just show that even though CVVDP is a state of the art high fidelity image quality metric, it is not perfect.
Explicit sRGB signaling is important for image testing as FFmpeg will not assume it by default. FFMPEG PNGs generated without it can suffer from incorrect brightness/gamma.
I am also using this Webp vs JPG variant in a botched LOSSY JPG/Webp/JXL/AVIF comparison thread I'm currently debugging that also suffered from incorrect colorspace assumptions.#!/usr/bin/env bash for f in in.png; do ffmpeg -hide_banner -loglevel error -color_primaries bt709 -color_trc iec61966-2-1 -i "$f" \ -vf "format=rgb24,drawtext=text='$(basename "$f")':fontcolor=white:fontsize=12:box=1:boxcolor=black@0.6:boxborderw=8:x=20:y=20" \ -pix_fmt rgb24 png.png done for f in *.webp; do dwebp -quiet "$f" -o dwebp.png ffmpeg -hide_banner -loglevel error -color_primaries bt709 -color_trc iec61966-2-1 -i dwebp.png \ -vf "drawtext=text='$(basename "$f")':fontcolor=white:fontsize=12:box=1:boxcolor=black@0.6:boxborderw=8:x=(w-text_w)/2:y=20" \ -pix_fmt rgb24 webp.png done for f in *.jpg; do ffmpeg -hide_banner -loglevel error -color_primaries bt709 -color_trc iec61966-2-1 -i "$f" \ -vf "format=rgb24,drawtext=text='$(basename "$f")':fontcolor=white:fontsize=12:box=1:boxcolor=black@0.6:boxborderw=8:x=w-text_w-20:y=20" \ -pix_fmt rgb24 jpg.png done img2webp -lossless -m 6 -loop 0 -d 1000 png.png webp.png jpg.png -o Webp-vs-JPG_flicker.webp rm -f png.png dwebp.png webp.png jpg.png

Last time my phone updated it also overheated and now I have 3 green lines crossing the screen

What is your favorite ThinkPad model and what OS do you use with them?
Currently I'm daily driving a T440p with OpenBSD/FVWM. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for older models on marketplace, which I will either run OpenBSD on, or if I run into problems, NetBSD.

Currently rocking an i5 something optiplex, it still has a windows 7 logo, with a GT 1030 dGPU inside it.
I might look into one if they have decent dGPU options. You will have to restrain me by force before I go back to intel hd graphics tbh. But I do like that laptops still work during a blackout.

Name a shittier laptop company.
You can't.

I'd say Dell

Firefox developer did a JXL vs AVIF comparison.

what does /technology/ think of wayland

Is the age of the free internet over?

>When the next iteration of human communication is discovered, say plugging our brains in directly to each other, we will go through exactly the same stages.
How do you suppose discoverability will work for this next iteration, besides using the internet, where the gawking rabble will just rush in at the same rate?

Just get a backup generator and stock up on petrol, bro

Jixel is definitely promising. In the past AVIF used to dominate below high quality, sometimes by up to 20-30% smaller file sizes so people kind of lost interest in JXL as an image format for the web, where things loading quickly on poor internet connections is more important.
X11 and Wayland has its ups and downs

NTA but I've never had a single issue in my 10 years of using X11. I tried using gayland for a few months for "security" but realized the whole thing is just a sack of shit. It was non-stop just fixing one thing then moving onto the next. I couldn't get half of the programs I rely on to work. Wayland is dogshit and I gave up on it later than I should have.
Also, as for the "security" benefits that gaylanders love to go on about, if not allowing programs to snoop on other program's displays is so important to you, then how about you just don't install fucking malware? If having malware on your system is so important to you then sure, I understand using gayland, but at that point just use an android with a keyboard attached. Lol

probably but i like to believe this will bring forth a new age of the cyber pirate hackermen. Think about it, once the government locks down most of the web and bans VPNs the only people who know how to still be anonymous online are us hacker men.
Does it count if I vibeslop it?

Knowing that an OS is a very time consuming project is stopping me from at least trying to implement one since I know I will move on to a different project really quickly. Though at the same time an OS can include many unrelated components which makes working on them feel like working on entierly different projects - I think SerenityOS is a great example of this, just look through the playlists on Andreas Kling's youtube channel. I Have an unfinished implementation of a 16-bit forth system sitting around, perhaps I should grow that into an OS of some sort.
