Birth rates

Why aren't people having kids anymore? Is there any way birth rates can be raised or is this the new normal?
Imo people are having fewer kids because they're marrying and even dating less often. A lot of people talk about money, but there's the least of the problems.
50 years ago most high school kids dated, nowadays only a minority do. Nowadays we have a lot more virgins and people who never dated.
Standards are sky high and people have no patience for human interaction anymore, guys would rather watch porn over pursing sex. Simping is rampant, be it the guy leaving likes on instagram, the guy on tinder swiping on a million women without getting a match, or the guy on twitch sending money to his dream gamer girl.
Girls end up in soft harems where 10% of guys fuck most women, they are told they need to marry a multi-millionaire while being broke, they are told their normal boyfriends aren't good enough.

Webp Anime Reaction images thread #2. Jahy-sama edition.

Workflow:

Take 1080p anime screenshot in PNG.
Crop it to 1:1 1080x1080 res (so it looks good on mobile and desktop)
Resize it to 50% and feed it to the Resrgan upscaler using the Anime-HQ-W4xEX model (found on the waifu2x extension gui on github)
Resize it to 50% again (ie back to 1080x1080), overall this significantly removes video compression artefacts and sharpens up blurry details.
Convert to webp using these parameters in cwebp: -sharp_yuv -m 6 -pass 10 -psnr 45

Similar to my W.A.R.i thread but this time make, or are at least attempt to make higher quality upscales using the Resrgan model Photo-HQ-W4xEX in waifu2x extension gui
1:1 1080x1080 is the goal but some might lose context so I'll get as close as I can to this but avoid going 16:9 since that doesn't look good on phones.

>Relative to lossless JXL filesize, how close in compression does a given lossless image codec get?
That's what I'm trying to answer here. A dozen common type 1920x1080 PNG images were used.

JXL KB = 100% and BMP KB = 0%. Lossless JXL/Webp/AVIF/oxiPNG/QOI tested. Anything above 100% means JXL was defeated.

0.99 SSIM H.264 vs AV1

I took the 73 Mbps 4K NLUUG Tears of Steel encode, scaled it to 720p, and used CRF 10 veryslow x264 to simulate 720p BD.
SSIM cheating was disabled in AV1 with tune 0 and variance boost, 720p was chosen to handicap AV1's 128x128 superblocks.
Even when nearly maxing out x264 compression , preset 4 AV1 = ~30% better compression and encodes ~40% faster as well.
I confidently declare that H.264 is now official boomer trash like flickering CRT displays.
