I just like being able to post with a VPN, although void should make the site more usable without javashit. Look to nanochan for inspiration PLS
Also, the benefits of a website that isn't completely full to the brim of unwashed retards end where the website becomes inactive, lol.

What is your favorite ThinkPad model and what OS do you use with them?
Currently I'm daily driving a T440p with OpenBSD/FVWM. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for older models on marketplace, which I will either run OpenBSD on, or if I run into problems, NetBSD.

Currently rocking an i5 something optiplex, it still has a windows 7 logo, with a GT 1030 dGPU inside it.
I might look into one if they have decent dGPU options. You will have to restrain me by force before I go back to intel hd graphics tbh. But I do like that laptops still work during a blackout.

This bash script uses the lossless animated Webp to create a loop to compare Webp and JXL to each other and a source PNG.
The Webp/JXL filenames are overlaid to display hidden info (ie filesize/CVVDP score/encoding parameters).
sRGB signaling is enforced for all images and finally temporary PNG intermediate files are deleted.Dependencies: FFmpeg, libwebp, and libjxl#!/usr/bin/env bash for f in in.png; do ffmpeg -hide_banner -loglevel error -color_primaries bt709 -color_trc iec61966-2-1 -i "$f" \ -vf "format=rgb24,drawtext=text='$(basename "$f")':fontcolor=white:fontsize=12:box=1:boxcolor=black@0.6:boxborderw=8:x=20:y=20" \ -pix_fmt rgb24 png.png done for f in *.webp; do dwebp -quiet "$f" -o decwebp.png ffmpeg -hide_banner -loglevel error -color_primaries bt709 -color_trc iec61966-2-1 -i decwebp.png \ -vf "drawtext=text='$(basename "$f")':fontcolor=white:fontsize=12:box=1:boxcolor=black@0.6:boxborderw=8:x=(w-text_w)/2:y=20" \ -pix_fmt rgb24 webp.png done for f in *.jxl; do djxl "$f" decjxl.png --quiet ffmpeg -hide_banner -loglevel error -color_primaries bt709 -color_trc iec61966-2-1 -i decjxl.png \ -vf "format=rgb24,drawtext=text='$(basename "$f")':fontcolor=white:fontsize=12:box=1:boxcolor=black@0.6:boxborderw=8:x=w-text_w-20:y=20" \ -pix_fmt rgb24 jxl.png done img2webp -lossless -m 6 -loop 0 -d 1000 png.png webp.png jxl.png -o Webp-vs-JXL_flicker.webp rm -f png.png decwebp.png webp.png decjxl.png jxl.png

Similar to my W.A.R.i thread but this time make, or are at least attempt to make higher quality upscales using the Resrgan model Photo-HQ-W4xEX in waifu2x extension gui
1:1 1080x1080 is the goal but some might lose context so I'll get as close as I can to this but avoid going 16:9 since that doesn't look good on phones.

@void how much free speech are you willing to permit regarding the use of profanity and racial slurs outside of clear racism?
On 4chan we usually got to go wild even outside of /pol/ and when you went full hitler you usually got a warning before a ban.
Obviously letting your site turning into stormfront 2.0 like 4chan isn't smart, it drives users away and destroys discussions.
Yet at the same time completely sterilizing everything defeats the purpose of anonymous posting here I think.
Also "tripfags" like myself should be held to higher scrutiny though since we can act as ambassadors for umigalaxy, right?
I'm asking because of the 4chan mod grapeape macking a mockery of 4chan just by posting the dumbest stuff on twitter lol.
Like I wonder if you should make different, more strict rules for registered users and relax them a bit for anonymous ones.
I'd be cool with that tbh. But if I made questionable statement (as anonymous while logged in) could the less strict rules apply?

Not urgent for the moment but I realized that long term this could get you in legal trouble and/or cause users to leave.

Why aren't people having kids anymore? Is there any way birth rates can be raised or is this the new normal?
Imo people are having fewer kids because they're marrying and even dating less often. A lot of people talk about money, but there's the least of the problems.
50 years ago most high school kids dated, nowadays only a minority do. Nowadays we have a lot more virgins and people who never dated.
Standards are sky high and people have no patience for human interaction anymore, guys would rather watch porn over pursing sex. Simping is rampant, be it the guy leaving likes on instagram, the guy on tinder swiping on a million women without getting a match, or the guy on twitch sending money to his dream gamer girl.
Girls end up in soft harems where 10% of guys fuck most women, they are told they need to marry a multi-millionaire while being broke, they are told their normal boyfriends aren't good enough.

Name a shittier laptop company.
You can't.

I'd say Dell

Any uncs here? How great was pre 2003?

When are you going to give up and live your life as a NEET in a container while hallucinating you have a pink haired girlfriend? It's gonna be fun

No need to worry about all the trash and rotting food on the floor either

Just get a backup generator and stock up on petrol, bro

This is not meant to treat JXL as entirely inferior to Webp, just show that even though CVVDP is a state of the art high fidelity image quality metric, it is not perfect.
Explicit sRGB signaling is important for image testing as FFmpeg will not assume it by default. FFMPEG PNGs generated without it can suffer from incorrect brightness/gamma.
I am also using this Webp vs JPG variant in a botched LOSSY JPG/Webp/JXL/AVIF comparison thread I'm currently debugging that also suffered from incorrect colorspace assumptions.#!/usr/bin/env bash for f in in.png; do ffmpeg -hide_banner -loglevel error -color_primaries bt709 -color_trc iec61966-2-1 -i "$f" \ -vf "format=rgb24,drawtext=text='$(basename "$f")':fontcolor=white:fontsize=12:box=1:boxcolor=black@0.6:boxborderw=8:x=20:y=20" \ -pix_fmt rgb24 png.png done for f in *.webp; do dwebp -quiet "$f" -o dwebp.png ffmpeg -hide_banner -loglevel error -color_primaries bt709 -color_trc iec61966-2-1 -i dwebp.png \ -vf "drawtext=text='$(basename "$f")':fontcolor=white:fontsize=12:box=1:boxcolor=black@0.6:boxborderw=8:x=(w-text_w)/2:y=20" \ -pix_fmt rgb24 webp.png done for f in *.jpg; do ffmpeg -hide_banner -loglevel error -color_primaries bt709 -color_trc iec61966-2-1 -i "$f" \ -vf "format=rgb24,drawtext=text='$(basename "$f")':fontcolor=white:fontsize=12:box=1:boxcolor=black@0.6:boxborderw=8:x=w-text_w-20:y=20" \ -pix_fmt rgb24 jpg.png done img2webp -lossless -m 6 -loop 0 -d 1000 png.png webp.png jpg.png -o Webp-vs-JPG_flicker.webp rm -f png.png dwebp.png webp.png jpg.png

Hmmmm, are you manually approving posts now? I'm sorry about that, I probably brough trolls along when I shilled umigalaxy too much on /g/. I was so hopeful that I could save some of the anons from /g/ but now I think they fucked in they head tbh fam. All the deleted mikeeusa threads there had an unusual large number of responses. You should look into banning anyone who mentions the site from those threads btw, the whole thing glows hard
ANYWHO, you should consider some kind of reputation based cookie thing. I haven't flooded your site with spam nor do I want to so maybe after a few approved posts you give me some sekrit cookie that I can take with me on my mobile phone web browser.
I understand that phoneposting gives admins a headache because the IP changes every 5 minutes.

Oh of course, there are plurals lol
>For example on /g/ OPs post cartoon depictions of half naked little girls often with threads that have little to do with tech, thinly veiled coomerposting. They got rid of /cumg/ but the pedoposting is still there.
I think a good aspect of a smaller website is that things can be moderated more easily, I pretty much read everything that is posted here and it's not like it can slip by
>>1065
>things can be moderated more easily
Somewhat. If you're wageslaving, asleep, or doing pretty much anything away from your website, that is time spent that something illegal could be posted to the website, available to the public, precious time where the feds get closer and closer to looking in your direction.
It might be impossible for illegal stuff to not get caught by you, but the time spent that you don't notice it could ruin your life.

are you saying you have a do nothing job, and hate it?

I don't know man, it seems too simple to just blame women. Social media gives you a pretty false picture because you get random ass influencers trying to get views and set up a persona, it's not a great depiction of reality. At least where I live all the laziest fucks I've worked with are mostly dudes. And personally I haven't moved a single step towards having children, I don't want them since I don't feel like there is enough time in my life. I'd be a total hypocrite blaming that on women. Like how are you supposed to have a career and get your home setup and so on? Suddenly you are too old and there's a 50% chance of your potential kids having genetic diseases due to age or maybe your wife straight up can't have kids. But if you have them too early you completely fuck up your wife's career and economically rape yourself because single income is basically impossible nowadays unless you have a very in demand job.

My work kills almost all enthusiasm for vidya, like I come home and I just don't wanna move a muscle. They say it's supposed to get easier over time but holy fuck is this gonna take a while for me.
I've been trying to get a mile of walking done a few days per week, they say it's supposed to improve energy/mental health without destroying your joints like running but idk.
I haven't touched my BF4 account in like 2 years, probably no active players on the serves at this point.
The thing that really sticks with me about the 1990s is the diversity of the music. Every decade had their equivalents of 2 Unlimited and Nirvana, but the 1990s had some mad shit. They had New Age music! Do you remember New Age music? Fucking Enigma had two different songs that reached #1 in the charts (at least in my country). People were going apeshit for music that sounded like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4F9DxYhqmKw
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rk_sAHh9s08
...and those songs came out in two different years! 1990 and 1994. They were worldwide hits. Mental music is probably still being made now, but you never hear it on the radio or on TV. Everything is safe now.
However, as I recall, I think 2002 was already a bit lame, so 9/11 might have been the start of things getting weak. But it felt temporary, like the music and the TV just wasn't really for you and you just needed to wait for the good stuff to come back. 2008 was when everything went to hell.
